Just One Thing: Can the Colorado GOP be saved?
With the most prominent voices at the state/local level of the Colorado Republican Party being fringe lunatics like Ron Hanks, Scott Bottoms, Randy Corporon, and Joe Oltmann -- one of the worst people I've ever met -- is there anything that can be done to save the party or is it time to burn it down and take the long and difficult journey to rebuilding?
I think this won’t go anywhere, but it’s a way for the craziest GOP candidates to boost enthusiasm with the fringiest part of the GOP base.
.
I sorta agree with Eric here, but at some point the demographics of a state can change enough that a purple state becomes red (like Florida) or blue (like Colorado), in which case there’s very little that the minority party can do to win statewide races. And once the minority party is that weak, they are often taken over by the fringe because normal sane people have better things to do. Or they think they do; it might be that we really need normal sane Republicans to be willing to get involved though I’m not sure they could get through the shenanigans and brain damage caused by people like Ron Hanks and Scott Bottoms and Randy Corporon.

No sanity with Joe Oltmann who is trying to become the new CO GOP chairman. I've had the misfortune to spend a little time with him. I note that the 9News article below says he “frequently boasts of his wealth and comfortable lifestyle”. That was my experience with him as well. He spent quite a bit of our lunch (organized by a mutual friend) telling me how rich and successful he was and how expensive his Porsche is.
There are a few (very few) people whom I will never allow on my show. Joe Oltmann is at the top of the list.

Today's Guests
Dave Cortman is Senior Counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom. We'll discuss their lawsuit against Jefferson County Schools emanating from a well-known story about the district not informing parents that on overnight field trips they were assigning kids' sleeping arrangements based on "gender identity". There was a situation where a girl was in the same bed with a biological boy (who "identifies as" a girl.) And the district refuses to give parents enough information to make decisions about their children's participation in these trips. You don't have to be "anti-trans" to recognize how deeply wrong this is.

Jack Carr is a former Navy SEAL sniper and best-selling author of both fiction and non-fiction. His latest, his first with a co-author (MP Woodward, who has also been a guest on the show), is "The Fourth Option". It's not in the Terminal List series, but rather a new protagonist and more of a crime thriller than a paramilitary/spy thriller.
I'm hosting Jack on Saturday for the 4th or 5th time at a big event for Douglas County Libraries. I think there are just a few tickets left. The ticket comes with a signed book. If you come to the event you'll be able to say hi to Jack (and, less importantly, to me.)

No, the war isn't over. Trump swings wildly between the most belligerent rhetoric and not actually following it up with aggressive military action. I don't know that more military action will accomplish much though we should try to take out "Pickaxe Mountain". I think the only way to even have a chance of winning is to maintain the blockade and consider taking Kharg Island though an operation like that risks more casualties than the American public might tolerate.

This was insane. Watching the video, it appears as if the guy walking across the runway didn't notice the approaching plane though I'm not sure how that's possible. The NTSB is now looking into the evacuation.

In the video below, AOC says you can’t earn a billion dollars and the host agrees. Host is comedian Ilana Glazer who frequently attacks rich people, especially billionaires, on her podcast.
Funny line from the Washington Post: “Ilana Glazer is nowhere near a billionaire, but she has done well for herself as a comedian. Advertisers seem to think her audience has some money to spend as well. The anti-capitalist interview was interrupted by Glazer reading an ad for the shoe company Stuart Weitzman, whose heels sell for about $500 a pair.”

The other day, I saw the story about some percentage of the Colorado peach crop being destroyed. Jeana mentioned it in the news but I didn't talk about it because I couldn't really tell if the story was significant (in the sense of a significant reduction in supply, and perhaps increase in price, of "Palisade peaches") and it appears that we're in peachy shape after all.
