Just One Thing: Trump makes the rounds
Apparently, President Trump decided that, as I had suggested yesterday (but not because I suggested it), that he needed to do a better job explaining this war to the American public. So he did a lot of short interviews with various reporters.
Here's a report about his interview with NewsNation: Trump says US will retaliate following service member deaths, drone attack
Here's CNN's Jake Tapper's recounting their conversation. To me the most interesting part is Trump saying that the "big wave", i.e. the biggest attack, hasn't happened yet.

The War
About 2 1/2 hours before the stock market opens (about 5 AM Tuesday as I write this), stock index futures are sharply lower with S&P futures down 1.6% and NASDAQ futures down more than 2%. Oil, which was up about $4 yesterday, is up another $5.60 today, and bond yields are rising for two possible primary reasons: Fear of a bit of inflation due to higher energy prices and investors basically just selling everything but oil.
This may also be a reason for the sell-off...when Jamie Dimon speaks, a lot of people listen:

A thought on the Iran war: I support the strike and I won’t come back later if it doesn’t work out well and pretend that I didn’t. I did get something right, or at least the administration clearly has pivoted to what I said they should do: stop talking about regime change as a goal.

On yesterday's show I repeatedly talked about how I thought it was a big mistake for Trump (and Lindsey Graham) to have talked about regime change as an explicit objective of the current war. Because you should not make an objective of something you're unlikely to achieve. Starting yesterday, that talking point vanished from administration commentary. Secretary Hegseth didn't say it. Secretary Rubio didn't say it. And I don't think Trump said it. This doesn't mean they don't want regime change but they might be fine with what Niall Ferguson calls "regime alteration", not nearly as sexy to talk about.
