Just One Thing: The Super Bowl arrives
As my friend and KOA colleague Ryan Edwards said on KOA Sports the other day, I might have been disappointed at first by the Broncos loss to the Patriots in the AFC Championship game, but as time passes and I think more about how that played out, I'm getting angrier. The Broncos really gave that game away. One of the biggest errors of Sean Payton's career (going for it on 4th and 1 instead of taking an easy field goal, then running a pass play with a backup quarterback, while knowing that bad weather was coming) was a key factor. But dropped passes and overall lack of performance by the offense (going beyond Jarrett Stidham in my opinion) also contributed to the failure.
So it's tough for me to care about this game but I do love the Super Bowl and will be watching despite not caring about either the Seattle Seahawks or the New England Patriots.
As usual, I'll watch a few minutes of the halftime show because I'm kinda curious about Bad Bunny. I don't care about Turning Point USA's alternative (conservative) online halftime show with Kid Rock and some country music artists but I bet a lot of people will watch that. I'll be interested to see if enough people actually change the station on their TV or, more likely, tune away from the Super Bowl during halftime on their digital devices, that you see a decline in halftime show viewership as compared to the game. For the record, I do NOT expect that because I think Bad Bunny will bring in a lot of new and curious viewers.
Obviously, I'm missing something but I don't understand why Seattle, which seems to me like a much more complete team, is only a 4.5 point favorite over the Patriots. As always, I'll make a few small bets. None of them will be on New England. But again, when a line strikes me as wrong, I typically find that I should bet in the direction of the wrongness, i.e. I think the line is too low and thus is trying to get me to bet on Seattle and therefore I should bet on New England. But I'm not going to.
Enjoy the game, the food, the friends, and we'll talk about it Monday!

New Jersey on the verge of a socialist Democratic nominee (and then likely but not certain winner in the general election). I note that NJ has closed primaries, meaning that unaffiliated/independent voters can NOT participate in party primaries; only Dems can vote in the Dem primary. I'm confident that "progressive organizer" Analilia Mejia would not be (looking at this time like) the winner if centrists could participate. This (apparent) outcome shows why the fringes in Colorado don't like our semi-open primaries (where unaffiliated voters can participate in either party's primary but not both primaries) and why those who want a more reasonable government do like it.
