Sounds about right to me. I did win $100 from real estate agent Ed Prather on our bet last year. He said that home prices would be up 3% or more; I took the under. I think the actual result was they were slightly down for the year. We are making the same bet for next year. (I had Ed give the $100 to a non-profit rather than giving it to me.)

I’ve never taken an illegal drug, though my issue really isn’t the illegality. It’s just that I have no interest. But these days given the number of deaths from drugs that contain lethal amounts of fentanyl, who’s still stupid enough to take this? "Pink cocaine" is spreading in U.S. — and users don't know what's in it

I'm sorta going out on a limb here because Trump is now operating almost without guardrails or restraint but part of me thinks he actually didn't know about this. It's an unnecessary "mess" that won't go anywhere legally and stands a real chance of causing Powell to stay as a member of the FOMC after his term as chair ends, whereas he might otherwise have vacated the seat and let Trump appoint a replacement. Additionally, it could push the Senate to block Trump's next nominee for the FOMC Chair job if senators think that the nominee will just pander to Trump's wishes (like the most recent Trump appointee has done for a few months) rather than be independent. And one of the Republicans on the committee that a nomination would have to go through is Thom Tillis, no Trump loyalist, who is not running for re-election and will not be pressured by Trump.

DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro chimes in. As is often the case, the replies are as interesting as the original post. For the record, I don't believe Pirro one bit here:
It's a significant "own goal" and I bet it was kicked by Pam Bondi (if Pirro went to the boss) who, according to some recent reporting, isn't in Donald Trump's good graces these days though you never really know about these things. If Bondi green-lit a subpoena against Powell for utter nonsense that will never be proven and that almost nobody cares about, causing even some Republicans and even Trump's own Secretary of the Treasury to complain, it could be the trigger to fire Bondi. Wouldn't break my heart. She's a Trump bootlicker, one of many who are willing to ignore the law if it pleases their master. That said, since we're talking about Trump, his objection isn't that she's too willing to bend rules to achieve his political aims; it's that she's not willing enough.
.
I get the concept, but I think approximately nobody in American politics will care. I mean, if Democrats tried to attack Trump with this issue, it would get something between a yawn and a laugh. That said, I don’t like how willing this administration is to ignore or violate laws.

We know that the professor was basically saying that Charlie Kirk deserved what he got, and it's a terrible statement, but especially at a state school, you simply can't fire him for this.
