Just One Thing: Pipe bomb arrest...5 years later

In what appears to have been some excellent detective work by the FBI who apparently got rid of the Biden investigative team and put new folks on it, an arrest was made in the mysterious case of two pipe bombs, placed at the RNC and DNC headquarters buildings the night before the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots. In a press conference yesterday, AG Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and DC Police Chief Pamela Smith said that the case was solved without any new evidence or tips. Quite remarkable, and not exactly a feather in the cap of the previous FBI agents assigned to the case.

I wonder what, if anything, will be made of the fact that the suspect (who I think, based on described evidence, is almost certainly guilty) is African-American. And I wonder if we'll learn anything about his motives. At this point, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro is describing him as a "very low key" person. Interesting to note they say he'd been buying bomb-making equipment since 2019. I won't speculate on what that means.

Admiral Mitch Bradley's testimony in a closed-door congressional hearing yesterday doesn't answer every question about the legitimacy of the "second strike" but does seem to remove SecDef Pete Hegseth from the "war crimes" conversation.

One of the most important things that government can do is to get the heck out of the way. It rarely happens. This is one of the things I like best about the Trump administration: Permitting reform gets some momentum

This MUST be the Dems strategy. They really have nothing else to run on. And it's the thing Americans care about most. The challenge for the Trump administration is that the president's only real economic policy, or at least the only one that anyone can name, that impacts "affordability" is his tariffs that make so many things less affordable. But Dems also have ZERO credibility on the issue and usually when they talk about making something more affordable what they mean is stealing money from some people and giving it to other people.
