Just One Thing: One of the worst movies I've ever seen
How the heck does this thing have great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB.
Check out the difference between IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes reviews and Google reviews from normal people. I have never felt more misled by Rotten Tomatoes.
The Super Bowl is set
Sadly, the Philadelphia Eagles thrashed the Washington Commanders in the NFC championship game on Sunday. The Eagles were clearly the better team.
The Buffalo Bills could probably have beaten the Kansas City Chiefs but not when also playing against the refs who seem to give KC the calls at every opportunity and not just yesterday.
So in a Philly vs KC Super Bowl, it's not "who do I want to win", it's "who do I want to lose less" and I think that's KC. There are no worse fans in America than Eagles fans. So I guess I'll be rooting for Taylor Swift. Ugh.

We'll discuss the news that President Trump ordered the release of all government files on the assassinations of JFK, RFK, and MLK. (Although it's still possible that some agencies will lobby him to keep some stuff restricted/redacted.)

Nvidia is getting crushed on the idea that AI can develop using fewer and less-expensive chips: NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA) Stock Price, News, Quote & History - Yahoo Finance
If Nvidia actually closes down more than about 8%, and as I write this at 6 AM it's down 11.5%, it would be the single biggest one-day loss of "market capitalization" in stock market history. (Market cap is simply the total value of all publicly traded shares of a company, i.e. the total shares outstanding multiplied by the price per share, so that a company with a million shares outstanding and a price of $37 has a market cap of $37 million.)

DEA takes out the trash (in/near Denver): Federal agents bust Venezuelan gang members at party in Colorado
(For the record, so nobody tries to take me out of context, my characterization of those people as trash is due to their status as drug-dealing gang members, not simply due to their illegal immigration status.)

Some foreign relations and deportation turmoil over the weekend. Trump sent a serious message:
UPDATE: US, Colombia reach deal on deportations; tariff, sanctions put on hold | Reuters
US, Colombia clash over deportations and raise tariffs in show of Trump's pledge to limit migration
Short version of the story as I see it: The leftist president, Gustavo Petro, wanted to show some sort of pushback against Trump, probably for domestic consumption. The angle he took was to refuse landing rights to two US military planes carrying Colombians being deported from the US, claiming that being transported on military instead of civilian aircraft was not dignified enough for Colombians. Trump then threatened, or ordered, tariffs on Colombian goods coming into the US as well as visa restrictions and revocations for members of the Colombian government in the US. In order to make it look like he was standing up for his claimed principle, Petro found an exit ramp by saying he'd send the presidential plane for the deportees, thus transporting them in a more dignified way. But we know what it really was: a massive come-down for a guy in a no-win position against Trump who holds all the important cards.

A remarkable result given what is undoubtedly true about the man: Vice President Vance casts tie-breaking Senate vote to narrowly confirm Pete Hegseth as defense secretary | CNN Politics
Hegseth's survival is a testament to Trump's unwavering support and to the fear that MAGA put into Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa regarding a primary challenge if she opposed Hegseth. As I said on the show, her vote would likely determine the outcome, and it did. You know she wanted to vote against him but she was too scared of MAGA. I share most or maybe all of Hegseth's stated goals for DoD and wish him success, though I still doubt that he's the right man for the job.
