Weds Blogcast: Tony Spurlock's cold case; CO psilocybin; Kennedy on taxes

This belongs at the beginning of the blogcast

I posted this a few days ago at the end of a blogcast but as the House GOP embarks on putting together a "big beautiful bill" to extend the 2017 Trump tax cuts (which most Americans, not just the rich, received), this is worth emphasizing

I am very much against Trump's blanket pardons and commutations of the January 6 rioters, especially those who were clearly violent or attacked police officers. And you have to admit that Biden's disgraceful actions regarding pardons on his way out the door made it quite a bit harder for Dems to complain, especially the commutation of Leonard Peltier's sentence.

Quite a cave-in for Harvard. I have to say that while I do generally think that anti-Zionists use that as cover for anti-Semitism, there may be a small number of people who don't hate Jews who disapprove of Zionism and it leaves me a little uncomfortable putting a policy in place that would consider those people bigots. That said, those people are at least useful pawns for anti-Semites. ‘A Watershed Moment’: Harvard, Settling Antisemitism Lawsuit, Promises To Implement ‘Strongest’ Protections of Jewish Students | The New York Sun

I think the legal issue here is not as clear as Phil Weiser and the other AGs would have us think. That said, I think Trump will lose this case in court. Colorado joins 17 states suing to stop Trump's order blocking birthright citizenship | U.S. & World | denvergazette.com

Colorado AG sues Trump over order ending birthright citizenship

This is a key case in the history of the issue. I think it will be enough for Trump to lose but I think it won't be unanimous and the case isn't as identical in the underlying fact set as the AGs need it to be. United States v. Wong Kim Ark | Constitution Center
