TGIF Blogcast: Coffee; Kurt Dennis vs DPS; Polar Vortex; Speaker Johnson?

Huge game for the Broncos this weekend!

The game is against the arch-rival Chiefs but since KC has made the playoffs and can't improve their situation with a win here, they'll likely not play their stars, including QB Patrick Mahomes and TE Travis Kelce.

FYI SUNDAY DAVE LOGAN WILL PLANT THE FLAG TO HYPE UP BRONCOS COUNTRY AT EMPOWER FIELD AT MILE HIGH JUST BEFORE KICKOFF!

Cybertruck defeats terrorist

The more I think about it the more it seems that the attempt to use a Cybertruck as a bomb in a terrorist attack is the best advertisement ever for Tesla. The Cybertruck is famous (some might say infamous) for its construction. (Some folks don't like that if it collides with another vehicle, it's likely to do more than usual damage to the other vehicle while suffering less than usual damage itself.) Anyway, the vehicle was so strong that much of the explosion's power was contained within the vehicle. The glass doors of the Trump Las Vegas hotel which appear to be less than 15 feet from the explosion were not broken. Pretty incredible, right?

And the would-be terrorist is, on paper, one of the last people you'd expect to do something like this: From Bronze Star to Baffling End: Green Beret Named in Vegas Tesla Explosion Stuns Army - WSJ

Elon Musk having a big impact on UK politics

It's been a couple of years since I mentioned the issue on the show, but England had (and maybe still has, but I hope not) a big problem with Pakistani men (mostly British-born) sexually assaulting and raping young girls. Local and national government basically ignored it because, as far as I can tell, they were afraid of being accused of racism or islamophobia. So more girls (and maybe boys too) got raped. In just the town of Rotherham (and there were several towns where this happened), it has now been reported that over 1,400 girls were sexually abused between 1997 and 2013. But prosecutions were slow and not enough rapists got not enough punishment.

While policing is primarily a local function, prosecuting cases involves the Crown Prosecutor which is a national position. Musk is now aggressively pointing out on X/Twitter that the current prime minister of the UK, Keir Starmer, was head of the Crown Prosecution Service from 2008 to 2013 and, Musk claims, has significant responsibility for not sufficiently prosecuting these serial rapists. Again, due to fear of being called racist. Starmer, the current head of the Labour Party recently became PM as the conservative-ish Tory or Conservative Party became of bad odor to voters after many years in power and a string of moronic "leaders". But Labour as constituted today are really bad. Like the Democrats in the US but probably even worse as far as wokeness and complete lack of understanding of economics. A recent poll showed disastrous approval ratings for Labour after just 6 months in power and that's before Musk jumped in and put much more pressure on Starmer. It wouldn't shock me if Starmer doesn't last much longer as PM.

I used to like Thomas Massie (R-KY) a lot. I still think he's better than many and he's certainly smarter than almost all of his House colleagues but he's also become quite the renegade. Again, I like that sometimes but when you start being known as the guy who always does the opposite just to do so, you start becoming ineffective. Ron Paul comes to mind.
