Just One Thing: Gaetz Gone (and Bondi in)

UPDATE: ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON, Donald Trump announced former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as his nominee to be Attorney General of the United States. She's not exactly my cup of tea but she's qualified and probably a near-perfect pick for MAGA. I expect she'll be confirmed unless there's some crazy skeleton in her background that becomes public information.

Yesterday, former Congressman Matt Gaetz withdrew from consideration to be attorney general of the United States. He had no business ever being considered. Donald Trump’s note on social media ended with “I look forward to watching all of the great things he will do” which strikes me as “don’t let the door hit you on the butt on the way out” and suggests that Trump won’t give Gaetz a different administration job. Obviously a few questions arise: Will Gaetz go back to Congress since he did win re-election? I doubt it. Will he be appointed to fill Marco Rubio’s Senate seat? I REALLY doubt it. Who will Trump nominate now? He recently named his former interim AG Matt Whitaker to be ambassador to NATO but might he consider bring Whitaker back to DOJ? We’ll soon find out.

Decent analysis by Chris Cilizza here. I hope that the people of Florida are better/smarter than to elect a low-life like Matt Gaetz as governor.

One More Thing: Climate Extortion Continues

You’ve probably heard of the Paris Climate Accord. That’s a meaningless agreement among countries that pretend to plan to lower so-called carbon emissions. There are meetings pretty much every year called the Conference of the Parties, or COP, and this year is COP 29. They are the climate equivalent of the medieval Catholic Church’s system of indulgences. Remember those? If you give the church money, you’ll go to heaven? At the COP meetings, so-called developing countries say they promise to reduce emissions if the rich countries, in the name of “climate justice” give them not just billions, but trillions of dollars. As one economist said years ago, “One must free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy.” Instead, “we are de facto distributing world wealth through climate policy.”

Today's Guest

Dr Keith Ablow is a Johns Hopkins-educated psychiatrist now doing counseling and life-coaching. He’s written 16 books and appeared on TV over 1000 times.

We'll discuss how Trump’s picks are far from “the business as usual” Washington, DC revolving door of Big Pharma, insurance companies, lobbyists and bureaucrats that have limited doctor-patient options and kept health care costs rising.
