Tues Blogcast: Medicare changes; Don't get scammed; Reuben

RIP, Reuben

I'm gonna be struggling a little today. Our wonderful little Frenchie, Reuben passed away suddenly yesterday. It might have taken us too long to figure out something was wrong, and it's really hard for me to not blame myself, but anyway without going into the details we decided on Sunday that he should go to the vet. I made an appointment first thing on Monday, Kristen took him to the vet while I was on the air yesterday...and Reuben died on the exam table. Something had caused him to drink so much water that it overwhelmed his system, whether from electrolyte imbalance or physical pressure or causing a stroke. I went straight to the vet after the show to say goodbye to my great little friend and, for the past 8 years, a member of our family. I really think he may have saved one of my kids, in his own way.

And now Agnes (the white doggie), who has not known a day without Reuben since she was about 10 weeks old, is without her brother and best friend. I feel worse for her than for us. She knows something is really wrong. She's hanging her head and not wagging her tail. And the house feels quiet and empty even though Reuben was a very quiet little guy.

My family is kinda broken today but I'll do my best for you on the air.

Reuben, my little buddy, I miss you.

I hope you’re frolicking and getting lots of ear scratches in doggie heaven.

If you don't mind crying a little

Other Stuff

Donald Trump is coming to "Aurora" on Friday and will speak at 1 PM MT (if he's on time.) I put Aurora in quotes because he's going to the Gaylord Hotel which is very close to the airport. I get it...I mean the chaos it would cause in Aurora trying to create a safe corridor for him would be crazy and would probably let folks on the left criticize him for interfering with traffic. It'll be very interesting to see what he says and to see who joins him.

I'm not joining all the shrill critics of FEMA, most of whom I think are either misinformed or lying for political gain, but it's also not hard to expect an organization with a "no-fail" mission to underperform when this is "Goal 1": Goal 1 - Instill Equity as a Foundation of Emergency Management | FEMA.gov

So much rot in the United States of America. Find these people, arrest them, jail them, and where possible deport them:

This person cannot be the president…but neither can the other one. I will never forgive the Democratic Party and the Republican Party for making these people our choices.
