Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman has been on a fact-finding mission regarding the actual extent of gang "takeovers" of residential buildings in his city. 9News is not so subtly criticizing the mayor for what appear to be changing positions. As for me, I'd like to know what he's learned because some folks are saying Aurora basically looks like Escape From New York and others are saying there's little to no problem at all. I also want to ask the mayor just what the role of the city manager is in all this since Aurora is a city -- as many might not realize -- where most of the day-to-day power in operating the city lies with the city manager, and not the mayor. (It's called a "weak mayor" system and some have wondered whether Aurora should stick with that system.)
