Weds Blogcast: Chris Cuomo; Colleges less woke? Olympic threats?; Hire vets

Just One Thing: Protecting the Olympics

There’s a video making its way around social media that purports to be a Palestinian terrorist threatening the Olympics, which has its official opening on Friday. Obviously the French would be extremely concerned about any such threat even if they don’t have specific information, not least because there are FAR too many non-integrated Muslims in the suburbs of Paris, people who don’t think of themselves as part of French society. Meanwhile, the French gov’t just announced that they’ve blocked about 5,000 people from attending the games. About 1,000 of those blocked were due to suspicion of being foreign agents, perhaps spies, particularly Russian spies, and many of the rest are potentially radicalized Islamists, political extremists, and criminals.  There will be 35,000 police each day, 10,000 extra on opening day, and 10,000 soldiers. Let’s hope they’re not needed.

This election is Trump's to lose...and there are few Republicans more capable of losing it. Trump needs to get back to the discipline that he showed from the debate through the first 23 minutes of his RNC speech, after which he went off the rails again (for the rest of the speech and since then.) I think Ted Cruz is right: Ted Cruz warns against underestimating Kamala Harris (thehill.com)

Biden will speak to the nation at 6 PM MT this evening. I kinda doubt anyone's really listening to the guy anymore. If I watch it will only be because my job requires me to be able to talk about it with you but fundamentally I simply don't care what he has to say.

My first question is who had the idea to test for this...

A few things about Kamala...

Two things: It's a mistake for Republicans to keep talking about Kamala Harris as a "DEI hire". Nobody who likes the line isn't already voting for Trump. Some people who might consider voting for Trump will hate the line, especially blacks, immigrant citizens, and women. That said, the charge is absolutely true: other than being a half-black half-Asian female, there was no reason to hire her and there were plenty of reasons not to. Politics isn't often about emphasizing the truth, unfortunately.

Two insane stories in one: Colorado recount affirms 3-vote margin in state House primary race (denverpost.com)

Three stories about anti-Semitism in America:

A lot of folks are describing Kamala Harris as "pro-Hamas". I wouldn't go that far but she's certainly insufficiently supportive of Israel, perhaps pandering to the far left of the Democratic base and perhaps because she has some of the moronic beliefs that cause leftists to turn against Israel. I do note that her husband is Jewish. Anyway, she's made the decision not to attend Bejamin Netanyahu's address to a joint session of Congress today. (Should be around noon Mountain Time if the schedule hasn't changed.) Does that choice represent the continued influence of anti-Semitism within the Democratic Party? I also note that she's likely to meet with Netanyahu tomorrow.

Another aspect of the same fundamental issue: CNN slammed after John King says Pa. Gov. Josh Shapiro's Jewish faith makes him a risky VP pick (nypost.com)

The thing is...John King is right. Not that Shapiro's religion is the dominant factor in this choice but it's definitely a factor. And given the state of today's Democratic Party, it's a negative for him in presidential politics. The other side of the coin, of course, is that he's extremely popular in PA which shows, by definition, that he's electable. I don't think his being Jewish will stop him from being the choice if Kamala wants him for other reasons. Still, interesting that people got mad at CNN for saying something that I think is obviously true.

OK, this is funny (includes swear words). And Team Trump should share it widely on TikTok...and do everything else they can to fight Kamala Harris for younger voters.
