Just One Thing: Argentina's Javier Milei warns the West against abandoning economic freedom

The worlds needs more leaders like Argentina’s new president, Javier Milei, who spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland warning the global elite that “the Western world is in danger because those who are supposed to have to defend the values of the West are co-opted by a vision of the world that inexorably leads to socialism, and thereby to poverty.” Milei added, "The main leaders of the Western world have abandoned the model of freedom for different versions of what we call collectivism. We're here to tell you that collectivist experiments are never the solution to the problems that afflict the citizens of the world — rather they are the root cause.” Hallelujah. The problem is that the political left seeks power for its own sake, and they show that power by stifling freedom and impoverishing nations.

Milei also -- in comments that I wonder if Ayn Rand (or Yaron Brook) inspired -- praised business people as "heroes", adding "Let no one tell you that your ambition is immoral. If you make money, it’s because you offer a better product at a better price.” Again: Hallelujah!

Speaking of inspired by Ayn Rand, here's Yaron Brook's reaction to Milei's speech, with the full speech (dubbed into English by AI) just below that.

Think about the irony of this. We’re supposed to all feel terrible that the IDF has to rid Gaza hospitals of actual terrorists (so they can actually just be in the business of treating patients) AND feel terrible that Jews are helping treat and cure cancer patients in a hospital that isn’t a base for terrorists. These protesters are evil people. Every single one of them should be identified and publicly shamed.

I enjoy and find fascinating various tribal cultures and traditions around the world and have participated in some in person. But this is a bunch of political elites in Switzerland. Stop it with the virtue signaling. It's almost as bad, though not quite as bad, as us having to hear at the beginnings of various conferences and public meetings about the "native" land that we're standing on and thanking/apologizing to people who haven't been in the area for at least generations, if not centuries.
