Thurs Blogcast: Christie is out; Yaron Brook is here; Saving Medicare money

Want to go to this with me?

February 7 from 6 PM to 9 PM at Wings over the Rockes in the Lowry Neighborhood, this year's "Men's Event" (which everyone, not just men, can attend!) features keynote speaker Noa Tishby (whom I'm trying to get as a guest on my show.) Here's her website: Home | Noa Tishby Official Website

I'm trying to get just 10 people who want to go to the event (which is put on by some big-hitters in Denver and which will probably have about 1000 people attending.) I'll probably split my time between two tables over the course of the evening. A $180 (or more) donation is requested. (Multiples of 18 are good luck in Judaism)

Just One Thing: Chris Christie is out (just slightly earlier than expected)

Former NJ Gov Chris Christie dropped out of the presidential race but that doesn’t mean he’s slinking away quietly. In the last event of his campaign, he bashed Republicans in Congress who were Trump critics but have become endorsers of Trump, saying “There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone but your dishonor will remain.” Also, Christie appeared to be caught on a hot mic saying that Nikki Haley, whom most people think is the main beneficiary of Christie getting out, is “not up for this” and will get “smoked” by Trump. That might be right too. One question is whether there are enough Christie supporter who go to Haley to push her into second in Iowa, in which case DeSantis has to get out, or even into first in New Hampshire. We’ll soon see.

Today's Guests

Dr Josh Umbehr is founder of Atlas MD, a technology company that supports doctors who are in the direct primary care, aka "concierge medicine" business. We'll discuss “Site-Neutral” Medicare pricing which, based on what I know today, I support. Hospital groups hate it. But the impact on competition in the sense of how the current system drives massive consolidation (and thus reduction of competition) would be massively beneficial. In other words. Read the article and listen to the interview and you'll get it...

Yaron Brook is chairman of the board of the Ayn Rand Institute and one of the most interesting thinkers I've ever met. He'll join me in studio for a wide-ranging conversation. Useful to know that Yaron is Israeli and his parents were socialists. He served in Israeli military intelligence, got an engineering degree in Israel, then a Masters and PhD in finance in the US. He taught finance at a university for a while before taking over as president of the Ayn Rand Institute, a position he gave up recently to work on other projects.

Yaron hosts his own daily (or near-daily) podcast which also has a video portion. You can find it on YouTube and elsewhere: The Yaron Brook Show - YouTube
