Thurs Blogcast: Bobby Knight RIP; Rabbi Leban; Transforming South America

WATCH THIS

And remember it when anybody (almost all of whom will be anti-Semites) call for a "ceasefire".

Just One Thing: Americans views of most issues are not as far apart as media wants you to think or as radical politicians want them to be

A large recent survey of Americans about America shows some interesting things.

Everybody worries about inflation. Lots of people worry about crime and homelessness. Some people worry about immigration and taxes.

A huge percentage of Americans believe their own lives are on the right track, and almost the same percentage believe the nation is on the wrong track.

70% of Americans believe the US is in decline, and it’s around 80% in rural middle America but only 60% in big cities. There’s a similar divide on the statement I feel like a stranger in my own country. 60% of evangelicals say that but only 35% of heavily Hispanic areas.

75% of the country, and probably 110% of my listeners, agree with this one: the mainstream media is more interested in making money than telling the truth.”

Maybe there’s some hope after all.

The most important thing

I didn't get to this stuff yesterday even though it's most important: The explosion of overt anti-Semitism on campuses (and its apparent lack of punishment by school "leaders")

Look at these bastards at Harvard surrounding and accosting a Jewish student while they hold terrorist scarves. If any of those people are students, they must be expelled immediately and, if possible, criminally charged.

I haven't verified, but this tweet claims that one of the perpetrators is the editor of the Harvard Law Review: https://twitter.com/canarymission/status/1719785341622595860

I hope that law firms never hire this miscreant, and that they tell him why.

OK, one more:

A few years back a friend of mine told me he was thinking of retiring in/to Ecuador. He should be very glad that he didn't as it's turned from one of the safest places in South America to one of the most dangerous: Ecuador Was a Retirement Paradise for Americans. Then the Drug Gangs Arrived. - WSJ

As far as the algorithm driving people or people driving the algorithm, it's often hard to tell what's the cart and what's the horse. In other words, is this happening because the anti-Semites are "stickier" and keep watching more anti-Semitic videos so the algo keeps serving them up? Or is the algo programmed to serve up anti-Semitic (aka "pro-Palestinian") videos? I suspect it's the former but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

On TikTok, views of pro-Palestine posts far surpass views of pro-Israel posts (axios.com)

Today's Videos

I believe this sport is called "baseball" and there was a game last night won by George W Bush

Former President George W. Bush congratulates Texas Rangers on their World Series win (yahoo.com)

Actually, I do like "firsts" in sports that have been around a long time. The Texas Rangers became the first MLB team to win 11 road/away playoff games in a row: Texas Rangers win World Series, beating Arizona Diamondbacks (axios.com) and "the first team to win a World Series game after going hitless for six innings."

Intense but worth your time. (As always, I recommend watching at 1.25x speed, or even 1.5x if you can keep up with it.)
