Uri Kaufman did two decades of research including interviewing Israeli veterans and getting access to newly declassified information to write the first history in 20 years of the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The book was just published two months ago. Given the eerie echoes of that surprise attack against Israel in the horror earlier this month, it's reasonable to ask: What should have been learned that wasn't and what can be learned now?
