Just One Thing: Mitt Romney hangs 'em up
Yesterday, Utah Senator and former Republican nominee for president, Mitt Romney, announced that he will not seek re-election. Although Romney strikes me as a good person his retirement won’t break many hearts.
It’s unclear whether Romney would have won re-election. He’s not very popular with MAGA but Utah is not a very MAGA state.
Romney said that it would be better for the country if both Biden and Trump stood aside and let someone from the next generation represent their respective parties. I don’t think many Americans disagree.
When asked whether his age was a factor in the decision, Romney said "President Biden, when he was running, said he was a transitional figure to the next generation. Well, time to transition." Well played, Senator. I wish you will in retirement, although it’s not for 16 months.

That said, SOMEBODY needs to have the courage to fix our entitlement programs. Trump's single biggest domestic policy failure was his lack of interest in the debt and deficit. That lack of interest showed up in his actively campaigning against entitlement reform and his big-spending ways while in office (which Nikki Haley has rightly been criticizing.)
