How to comment to CO PUC against Xcel rate hike

UPDATE: I've tried to make it easier to comment with these instructions. Instructions on other ways are in the last link in this blog note, including info about participation in online hearings (5/31 and 7/11)

  1. Start here: Colorado Public Utilities Commission (state.co.us)
  2. Select "Public Service Company of Colorado (or Xcel Energy)"
  3. Select "22AL-0530E - Filing to increase base rate revenues due to load growth and implement new base rates for all electric rate schedules"
  4. Fill out the form with your information and your comment.

Here's what I wrote:"

Xcel energy's rate increase must not be allowed. They recently sought and received a significant rate hike. Since that time, the cost of natural gas (used to generate electricity) has declined and the cost of coal has plummeted.
Consumers are under massive financial pressure while Xcel is using the current push from certain politicians to "electrify" and "green" everything as an excuse to embark on boondoggles that pad Xcel's bottom line and saddle ratepayers with the costs.
If anything, Xcel should be required to reduce rates for both electricity and natural gas.
Please do not let Xcel's famously large cadre of lobbyists cause you to let them take more money from ratepayers when the direction of rates should be lower, not higher.

Thanks to a listener for texting this info.

Please get in touch with the PUC by any of the methods listed below and oppose the requested rate hike.
