Just One Thing: Tennessee Republicans Go Nuts

I get it, some lawmakers can be loudmouths. After the terrible mass murder at the Covenant Christian School in Nashville, three Democratic members of the state house used a bullhorn to lead chants calling for stricter gun laws. That wouldn’t be that big a deal except they were on the floor of the House, and additionally they were not recognized to speak. So they violated the rules and decorum. They deserve to be censured and perhaps otherwise punished. But fully expelling them from the House, removing them from office, as was done to two of them – by the way, the two black ones -- is an insane overreaction and, like so many things politicians on both sides have been doing, will likely come back to bite Republicans badly one day. Everyone, everywhere, needs to take a breath and keep things in perspective.
