Just One Thing: CO Schools "Swatted"

My kid texted me yesterday with some frightened messages. There was a rumor of a school shooter. Rather than stay, he bolted out of the school and came home, somewhat shaken. Many school districts in Colorado received calls of threats to schools. 9 News reported in the afternoon that 13 school districts received threats, most in the morning, one in the afternoon, and that at least 11 of the districts were called in alphabetical order, with, among those, Alamosa getting the first call at 8:24 AM and Littleton the last at 1:45 PM. The same news report says that the call about Boulder High was actually made to CU Boulder's non-emergency line and that included background sounds that sounded like gunshots. Also, because of the particular lines that were called, many of the calls were not recorded the way they would have been if the emergency lines had been called.

UPDATE: Fox 31 has more on the alphabetical calls: Hoax threats to Colorado schools seemingly made in alphabetical order | FOX31 Denver (kdvr.com)

Most of the school districts were smaller ones. In the metro area, for example, Denver, Cherry Creek, JeffCo, and Arapahoe districts did NOT get swatted, swatting being the term for these fake calls of an active shooter. What do you think the right punishment is? I’ll say 6 months in jail for each district called.

We'll talk with Boulder County DA Michael Dougherty about many issues surrounding these crimes.

Today's Guests

Michael Dougherty is the Boulder County District Attorney. We'll discuss yesterday's "swatting" of multiple schools around the state, including Boulder High School.

Alan Abramowitz is the ALBEN W. BARKLEY PROFESSOR EMERITUS of Political Science at Emory University. He's released some very interesting new research on political partisanship in the United States. It confirms what I already suspected: In recent years, despite what many Democrats probably believe, Democrats have moved further to their left than Republicans have moved to the right. (I suspect that the opposite was true a decade or two ago.) What does it mean for the country?

Charlie Gasparino is the Senior Correspondent for Fox Business Network. He's one of the very best business reporters out there, maybe THE best. Today we'll discuss how House Republicans are looking to push back against the insane woke agenda of SEC Chairman Gary Gensler.

This is VERY interesting. While I oppose the Colorado law and efforts to prevent districts that want to cooperate with ICE from doing so, I oppose even more the federal deputization of state and local law enforcement officers to get around state law. Today I'm going to offer a picture instead of a video

This photo was released by the Department of Defense. It's a selfie taken by the pilot of a U-2 spy plane earlier this month as it tracked and analyzed the "Chinese spy balloon."
