TGIF Blogcast: Laughing with Jackie Kashian; My kid's trip to Israel

Just One Thing

If somebody else’s kid were screwing up, acting like a bit of a delinquent, but in a way that had very little impact on you, how mad would you be? Just a little, right? But if it were your kid, you’d be a lot more upset, right? A listener emailed to ask why I stay in Colorado since I complain about Denver so much…shouldn’t I instead move to another state? I do complain about Denver…not because I hate it but because I love it, or at least I loved it and I want it to return to being a city I can love and enjoy. I’ll leave the political part of this for another day. The point I want to make today is that I, and we, tend to be most critical of people and situations that really matter to us…and Denver matters to me.

Today's Guests

Comedian Jackie Kashian has a wonderful conversational style, and I think you'll love hearing her in studio with me in the 10 AM hour today. You can see her tonight or tomorrow (Fri/Sat 7/29 and 7/30) at Comedy Works South at the Landmark.

I'll post a video of some of her comedy below as well...

And if all goes according to plan, my older kid will join me in studio to talk about his recently-finished month in Israel. I haven't heard too many stories yet so I'm sure I'll be hearing new stuff just as you are. My kid is very insightful and empathetic and philosophical. Quite an "old soul" for a teenager. I hope you enjoy the conversation.

Jackie Kashian on "she/her" vs "he/him" and "they/them"

And Jackie on "the Rapture"

A GREAT idea for non-lethal home protection though I suspect it might not be legal here the way it is in South Africa. That said, their website says they ship to the USA. Looks like nylon bullets powered by compressed CO2.
