4/28/25 Blog: About That Colorado DOGE Thing, Plus Draft Drama Plays Out

ABOUT THAT SO-CALLED COLORADO DOGE And I'm going to call it a grift. I saw something on Facebook that purportedly said it was Colorado DOGE and it was asking for money. I clicked through to their fundraising page only to find a BUNCH of words and a donate money, but nothing that said who was behind it and what they were raising money FOR. They called themselves a non-profit, but gave no Tax ID information to indicate they have any sort of actual non-profit status where you can deduct those deductions, which I think is a pretty big omission. I asked on the air last week if anyone new about this and Natalee Tennant has the skinny. She joins me with Todd Watkins on to talk about the latest from the angry group of Republicans bitterly trying to hold onto power rather than actually win a race at 1.

HERE ARE THE BRONCOS DRAFT PICKS For those of you who weren't glued to your television all weekend:

I find it funny that people in the comments are giving the draft class a C or D grade, when this ownership group has shown us in the past that they know what they are doing in the draft. I'm sure those same people felt the same way about Bo Nix.

A HUGE RAID IN COLORADO SPRINGS FINDS DRUGS, GUNS AND ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS And some members of the military from Fort Carson, either partying or working as security at what is being called an "underground" nightclub, though I'm not sure exactly what that means. More than 100 people who are in the country illegally were swept up in the raid that also found drugs and guns. This was a DEA investigation in cooperation with ICE, so it wasn't JUST about finding people in the country illegally. I've got someone from the DEA on today at2:30 to find out more details.

CHSAA HATES GIRL'S SPORTS Because they have doubled down on letting boys compete in girl's sports if they say they are girls. This is how CHSAA, the organization that oversees high school sports in Colorado, responded to a letter from numerous school officials demanding they honor the Executive Order protecting girl's sports:

“It is important to underscore that the ultimate resolution of these issues will not come from CHSAA, but rather from the highest levels of the State and Federal judiciary,” Krueger said. “As such, CHSAA’s role is to support its membership in remaining informed and thoughtful, while providing timely updates to our member schools as decisions are rendered by the courts along with State and Federal governmental officials.”

It's time for some high school boys to take a stand here and declare themselves women in every sport so they win everything and we can point out how stupid this entire exercise is.

COLORADO HATES PARENTS And Heidi Ganahl talks here about the many, many things that are happening in our state designed to erode trust and relationships between parents and students so they state can indoctrinate them into all the gay porn they want. Yes, I'm being over the top, but am I? Adults who try to stop porn in libraries are being called book banners because gay porn is fine for elementary students according to them. How stupid of us to think porn is porn regardless of sexual orientation. One of the most onerous bills to happen in a long while, HB25-1312 is being debated on Wednesday and we need to flood the Capitol with people to testify. From the column:

But we can STILL fight back. On April 30, at 1:30 PM in the Old Supreme Court, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on HB25-1312.
I urge every concerned Coloradan to sign up to testify in person or remotely against this unconstitutional bill. And you can do so through the General Assembly portal here: https://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2025A/commsumm.nsf/NewSignIn.xsp
Supporters will also be gathering at 10:30 AM on the West Steps of the Colorado State Capitol for a press conference and rally hosted by Erin4Parents.

If you can make it, this is a huge stand for our kids and I want to be able to say my team fought for kids when it mattered.

WHEN A HUMBLING VEERED INTO CRUELTY One of the most remarkable things about this past NFL Draft weekend was the spectacular fall of CU Buff Shedeur Sanders. He FINALLY got picked in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns, who had already drafted one other quarterback. Talk about a humbling experience. But then it got cruel, when someone prank called Shedeur.

Whatever you may think of Shedeur this was unspeakably cruel. And now we know who did it and boy is he sorry. It was Atlanta Falcons Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbricht's 21 year old son who thought this would be a good idea. The Falcons and the coach have issued apologies and now we have this from the dumbass son:

What kind of tool does this kid look like? A massive one.

FORMER MAYOR HANCOCK CALLS OUT TWO SCHOOL DISTRICTS But this could be directed at a LOT of school districts who get bond money and then don't deliver student results. In this column he calls out Aurora Public Schools and the Cherry Creek School District for not being transparent with where they are spending the money. In Douglas County they put together this website so people could see exactly how their neighborhood schools will benefit and I like it.

COLORADO DEMOCRATS HATE US SO MUCH And the latest attack is designed to prevent us from doing what we've done over and over again at the ballot box, which is limit the size and scope of government power. Jon Caldara writes about a new bill which is solely designed to prevent us from bringing ballot initiatives, a process which has allowed voters to check power and levy term limits on politicians who certainly would not do those things on themselves. Read it here.

BUT THEY LOVE CRIMINALS As this editorial points out using the latest "criminal justice reform" garbage as evidence, along with the refusal to make crime hurt more for criminals.

A COMPROMISE MAY OR MAY NOT COME IN UNION FORMING For eight decades now our union situation in Colorado has worked just fine, but labor unions want to make it easier to force workers to give them money against their will and Democrats are happy to help. They are monkeying around with labor law and now the Governor is involved. Unions want to do away with a second election that asks workers if they want to give them union money. Business leaders obviously hate that. Now the Governor is involved in trying to work out a compromise on this bill, which will pass in some way at some point as long as Democrats, who have lost their automatic union vote status, are in charge.

MAYBE AI LEGAL IS NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME Poor MyPillow guy Mike Lindell. He's now been busted for turning in AI generated briefs in the defamation case against him here in Colorado by Dominion Voting Systems. His attorneys used AI to generate a brief, which isn't illegal, but AI often lies and makes stuff up, which it did here by referencing a bunch of FAKE cases to make their case. Oofa. His attorneys say it was a human caused mistake because an early draft done by AI was submitted instead of the actual brief they intended. This entire thing is a clown show. He's going to spend a fortune on lawyers to lose this case anyway. He should just settle.

MASS TRANSIT KILLS ANOTHER BUSINESS Will there be any businesses left by the time to stupid rapid bus line is built? At this rate, no. Capitol Cigars just served it's last martini and fired up it's last stogie. Business is down 80% since the construction project started. I'm sure the nanny staters are cheering.

DIA IS RAISING PARKING FEES A garage will now set you back $35 a DAY. Find the rest here, but it's officially way cheaper to take an Uber than park there.

A BLACKOUT HITS SPAIN AND PORTUGAL and it wreaking havoc on the European continent as well. Why is the power out? No one is saying yet.

IS SCOTT PELLEY ON HIS WAY OUT? I can only guess that after he went out of his way to accuse CBS and it's parent company Paramount of trying to curry favor with the Trump Administration.

We'll see what happens now. He doesn't mention Trump's lawsuit for the way CBS edited the Kamala Harris interview to make her look much, much better.

AND NOW A BIT ON THE NATION'S OLDEST ROCK And I'm not talking music, I'm talking actual rocks. Seem the country's Oldest Rock is nothing of the sort, but it has revealed that it's not nearly as old as previously thought. This part caught my eye:

But the lighthearted debate points to a deeper problem: If we can’t date rocks accurately, we risk misreading major geologic events that shaped the planet — and that will shape its future.

I often think about this when climate scientists tell us things like "we warming faster than ever before". If we can't date rocks correctly how in the world are we supposed to know that? Genuine question on my part.
