4/25/25 Blog: Jimmy Has The Blues, Plus A Forum On Home Rule In DougCo

WANT TO SEE A FORUM WITH THE DETAILS ON HOME RULE? I've got you. Check this out:

Deborah Flora joins me at 1 to talk about this very important, open to the public, event. Mark your calendars and I'll see you there! This is a good explainer of what Home Rule means in Colorado.

JIMMY SENGENBERGER HAS GOT THE BLUES But that is great news if you love good music, as The Jimmy Junior Blues Band is playing this weekend!

He and his bass player are joining me today at 2:30 for some good music and good times. Hey, it's Friday! Or is it Fri-YAY?!?!?!

JIMMY THINKS MARRERO SHOULD GO And he is 100% right in this column that lays out the failures of the current DPS Superintendent Alex Marrero. Accusations of sexist behavior and culture, forcing former employees to sign NDAs when they leave, and complete failure to achieve the biggest task at hand which is educating kids should be enough. For some reason the School Board can manage to look past all that. The School Board needs some fresh blood to evaluate this failure correctly.

IT'S AN ASK ME ANYTHING KIND OF DAY And I've got a bunch of stuff on the blog that has NOTHING to do with politics, so anything is fair game today.

DID YOU SEE THE BLOG YESTERDAY? If not, you should really check it out here. It's got a bunch of stuff on Democrats driving Uber out of Colorado, Democrats driving up the cost of energy 21% in five years, and sex ed camp for fifth graders so they can learn about "sexy feelings" and masturbation from adults who can't wait to talk sex to kids.

SPEAKING OF SEX CAMP If you didn't see the story on yesterday's blog about the Boulder sex camp for children (that they call "young humans" so it's not quite so groomery) here is a great explainer of what your ten year old can expect!

We've gone from teaching kids that a penis and vagina can make a baby to "queer theory" and helping them find porn that suits them. This is insane. I can't wait to see my child's "galaxy of genders" rooted in "justice" while they show me how to use dental dams as we laugh and laugh about whatever made up pronouns they came up with at camp. Aww, summer. Good news, they can bring a friend on the last day so they can show THEM how to use a condom! Woot!

THE BRONCOS PICK WHO? FROM WHERE? Let's just say the Bronco first pick of the draft was a head scratcher, as they chose a Cornerback from Texas in the first round. Mmkay. Read more about this kid here. The Broncos say this draft is full of offensive talent so they grabbed their guy on defense in round 1. CU's two way star Travis Hunter went to the Jacksonville Jaguars and I heard my dad cheering from heaven.

WHEN HYPE HURTS Rumors started to swirl this week as anonymous NFL coaches said Shedeur Sanders, projected by many, including his father and coach Deion Sanders to go in the top five of the first day, wasn't ready for prime time. The hype around him hurt him, I think. I told Arod a few days ago that he just seems like a LOT for a team to take on, especially with his famous father probably going to remain in his business too. This is sad, but when people see you get too much stuff handed to you, even if you are a greatly talented kid, it damages the perception that you did it on your own. I think retiring the jersey brought a lot of unneeded scrutiny about what his actual playing ability and strengths and weaknesses were. He is still on the board as we begin Round 2 of the draft. I hope that he takes this disappointment and uses it as fuel for his fire in the league. It worked for Tom Brady.

VOTER ID CAN'T BE ORDERED BY THE PRESIDENT That is what a judge ruled and I think she has a point, but isn't it unfortunate that Democrats are so hell bent on preventing voters from having to provide id to vote. Or laws that keep non-citizens from voting. Read more here, but her separation of powers argument is pretty solid in my view.

THE ROMAN ENCLAVE UNDER LONDON This is just nerdy but super interesting.

AI IS REDUCING CLICK THROUGHS And this article goes through all the machinations this group used to prove it, but my use of Google with AI overview confirms the study. I am far less likely to click through to the websites if my query is answered in the Overview provided. Read more here, but if you are using SEO to sell your business this is very bad news for you. You should try radio instead.

HOW TO BE GRATEFUL DURING TOUGH TIMES Boy I needed this today, not because my life is going poorly, but because some stressors have been wearing me down lately. This article talks about how to find gratitude, which is a KEY to happiness, when we don't see much to be grateful about. Gratitude comes easier for some, but everyone can be better at it by flexing their gratitude muscles. Read it here.

ANOTHER VETO, ANOTHER OVERRIDE THREAT Our Legislature loves to make edicts on companies that are so onerous and over the top that they will likely just leave the state. First it was Uber, and now it's social media companies. They've passed a bill that would make social media companies the judge, jury and executioner over speech on their sites that harms children. Governor Polis sent someone to argue against it and then vetoed. I was wondering if this means that I can report that creepy groomer trans weirdo Jeffrey Marsh and have his stuff removed? If so, I'm all for it. I doubt that's what they meant though. The truth is our Legislature is full of people who have never run a business and have only a rudimentary knowledge of the things they are going to regulate into oblivion. I genuinely hope they are successful and Uber and all social media companies leave the state. THAT would get the attention of voters.

SPEAKING OF UBER They are teaming up with Volkswagon to roll out self driving taxis in markets around the country. They won't be driverless until 2027 but they are working through the regulatory process in California to get this done. Read it here.

THE TRUMP ADMIN IS INVESTIGATING ACT BLUE Act Blue is the fundraising arm of the Democrats and it is about to be in a WHOLE lot of trouble. It seems they have been engaging in identity theft to launder large donations by making them seem like they came from small money donors. Even Democrats who have donated only to find out that THEY have been used to launder money are crying foul.

James O'Keefe did a whole investigation into it.

There has been a mass exodus of leadership since March, I wonder why? Perhaps because they know they've been laundering money for the Democratic party? Now Trump is demanding a full investigation into the platform that Liz Warren told people to donate too during the fires in California. I'm sure there is nothing to see here.

COLORADO CAN KISS FEDERAL ROAD MONEY GOODBYE But we probably won't miss it because the leadership of CDOT would probably use it to build another bike path or light rail route no one will ride. And lest you think the Federal government can't do this, they have done it time and time again to force states to do what they wanted. From lowering the speed limit to 55 to raising the drinking age the feds have used this tactic a lot. Now we may lose our transportation dollars because of our sanctuary state and DEI programs. Oh well. It's only almost 42% of our transportation budget, I'm sure it will be fine. At least Tren de Aragua can rest easy knowing they are safe here!
