LINDSAY DATKO HAS BEEN BUSY HOLDING JEFFCO SCHOOLS ACCOUNTABLE Demonstrating what some very angry parents are capable of when mad, Lindsay Datko has been the force behind JeffCo Kids First, an organization that aims to put kids at the top of every decision. Seems harmless enough. They have been super busy finding out about all the sexual misconduct happening in JeffCo schools and demanding accountability from a board that seems to believe parents are the problem. Their work is getting noticed by Libs of TikTok, watch this:
Then she exposed how one counselor is working to destroy families like this guy's.
She is relentless and she's on the show today at 1pm for an update.
WANDA JAMES CRIES RACISM TO PROTECT HER BUSINESS No one wants to be told their product is harmful, but when your business is pot, it is. Just like if you business is alcohol, it is. Or gambling, or fast food, etc. But CU Regent Wanda James isn't happy about a recent public awareness campaign against high potency pot, so she has declared it "racist" because of the depictions of black babies in utero (along with white babies in utero) and young black kids (and young white kids) in the video about the dangers of high potency pot. Is it racist? Of course not, this is such a transparent attempt by her to stop negative publicity around her highly profitable pot business. Jimmy Sengenberger is the thorn in her side and he's on the show today at 2:30 to talk about this column about it. This is a perfect example of an eye roll worthy cry of racism.
OF COURSE THE ACLU IS PROTECTING TREN DE ARAGUA MEMBERS Of course they are. They have taken up the case of the two men who they say are NOT gang members to keep them in the country as they fight Trump's use of the Alien Enemies Act to remove them. From the Denver Gazette:
The lawsuit seeks a temporary restraining order to prevent President Donald Trump from using the wartime act, arguing the White House proclamation designating members of Tren de Aragua as "alien enemies" does not satisfy the tenets of the Alien Enemies Act.
Specifically, a gang’s criminal activities "do not constitute an 'invasion or predatory incursion' under the AEA and the Act was a wartime authority meant to address 'military' attacks," the ACLU argued in the lawsuit.
This Supreme Court has already ruled the Trump admin CAN use the Act to deport people, but the issue here seems to be due process, which I too, have reservations about. Seems like we should have to prove someone is in a gang before deporting them for being in a gang, at least that's how things used to be.
LOTS OF YOU SAID I GOT THE GARCIA CASE WRONG and from where I sit the ONLY thing I got wrong was that he does NOT have asylum, though his deportation order from 2019 was stayed pending investigation. Lots of you wrote me to say he was in a gang, which was NEVER proven in a court of law, or that he was involved in gang crimes, which he was never even charged with by police, a lot of you said he was OBVIOUSLY a bad dude and should have been deported ANYWAY because you JUST KNEW. So my challenge for you is to find ANY EVIDENCE that any of this has been proven in a court of law. In our society we aren't supposed to punish people because of what we SUSPECT of them, only what is PROVEN, and in this case, the government hasn't provided any proof of any of this. They even admitted to the US SUPREME COURT that the removal was an "administrative error" after finding out his deportation order FORBID him from being sent back to El Salvador. So who are you going to believe, what the federal government represents to the Supreme Court, which you can read here, or what pundits are trying to spin as some kind of diplomatic dunk by the Trump Admin? From the ruling:
The United States represents that the removal to El Salvador was the result of an “administrative error.”
So did they lie to the court or are they lying now? And as for the notion that we can't get him back, the Supreme Court addressed that too:
Instead of hastening to correct its egregious error, the Government dismissed it as an “oversight.” Decl. of R. Cerna in No. 25–cv–951 (D Md., Mar. 31, 2025), ECF Doc. 11–3, p. 3. The Government now requests an order from this Court permitting it to leave Abrego Garcia, a husband and father without a criminal record, in a Salvadoran prison for no reason recognized by the law. The only argument the Government offers in support of its request, that United States courts cannot grant relief once a deportee crosses the border, is plainly wrong. See Rumsfeld v. Padilla, 542 U. S. 426, 447, n. 16 (2004); cf. Boumediene v. Bush, 553 U. S. 723, 732 (2008). The Government’s argument, moreover, implies that it could deport and incarcerate any person, including U. S. citizens, without legal consequence, so long as it does so before a court can intervene. See Trump v. J. G. G., 604 U. S. ___, ___ (2025) (SOTOMAYOR, J., dissenting) (slip op., at 8). That view refutes itself.
But you can continue that our government has done no wrong here because you like the guy in charge. I will not. I believe in the rule of law.
MEDICAID EXPANSION HURTS POOR PEOPLE By preventing them from getting care from an increasingly shrinking pool of doctors that will accept Medicaid, especially specialists. This editorial does a great job of explaining why we need to get Medicaid enrollment closer to where it used to be.
THE STORY BEHIND THE NUGGETS FIRINGS And I always like to know the thinking behind big decisions and Josh Kroenke lays it all out here and it's very interesting.
DENVER TRIES TO SPEED UP PERMITTING This is a problem THROUGHOUT a lot a of the Front Range according to builders I know. A super slow permitting process can eat into a lot of money and sometimes even kill a project and frankly, there is no need for it. Now the City of Denver is trying to speed up the time for processing permits, promising to reach a 180 day turnaround for permitting projects. That's still six months. I'm not at all sure what goes into granting a permit, so I have no idea if six months is a reasonable amount of time, but it still seems long to me. The bigger issue, noted in the article, is the extreme environmental regs that have commercial real estate development looking in other states instead of Denver.
YADIRA CARAVEO WANTS THE 8TH CONGRESSIONAL SEAT BACK And I feel super sorry for voters in the 8th because this seat is in play for the foreseeable future so it's gonna be a battle every two years. Read more here about Caraveo announcing her new run for the seat she once held.
GREG LOPEZ RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR...AGAIN Maybe third time is the charm but the former Mayor of Parker and now former appointed Congressman is back again. I've got him on the show Thursday where I will ask him why he thinks this time will be different.
CT SCANS MAY LEAD TO CANCER Anytime you shoot radiation into your body stuff could happen. But the wide used CT Scan is now under fire for perhaps contributing to thousands of cancer cases later. Is the connection crystal clear? No. Are you going to get cancer if you've had a CT scan? Not necessarily. That being said, be aware of this so you can advocate for yourself with your physician.
ONE BOY IS GIVING BIRD VIBES
HAPPY TAX DAY, EREBODY. We're being robbed according to this column and I have to say, I agree.
HARVARD DECIDES TO GO IT ALONE And told the Trump administration that they would not comply with demands they address the ideological capture that infests their campus. That's fine. The government responded by pulling $2.26 BILLION in multi year grants. We'll see who blinks but I bet it isn't the government. You can read Harvard's statement here.
THE CASE FOR TARIFFS This is a good column that explains the history of tariffs in the US and why they are needed to protect certain industries vital to our national security. Right now we can't make ammunition without ingredients from China. That should concern everyone. This column about China suspending the sale of rare earth minerals and it's impact on US supply chains should tell you this is not an insignificant worry.
NVIDIA IS BRINGING CHIP MAKING TO THE US And not just chip making, but AI Supercomputer making as well. They just announced that both will be built in Arizona and Texas, respectively. That is if we can get the rare earth minerals we need to do that. See above for more.
DETAILS ABOUT THE DECOUPLING OF CHINA AND THE US ECONOMIES You really should read this.
THE STORY OF THE LARGEST FLOOD IN HISTORY I was told once that every ancient religion has a flood story. We've got Noah's Ark, and Hindu's have the story of Manu (very similar to Noah), and you can see a bunch here. So when I saw this story about the largest flood in history I was intrigued, because this is really a story about climate change, which is still happening. It's super interesting.
WHO IS COMING TO FIDDLER'S GREEN? I've got the list here, and I've actually heard of most of these bands.
KRIS BRYANT IS INJURED. AGAIN. Of course he is. Any other team would have cut him a long time ago. I don't mean to be disparaging but it's time to cut him loose.
FOR REAL
SKIPLAGGING CAN GET YOU BANNED FROM AN AIRLINE And I know someone who is no longer allowed to fly Delta OR American because of doing this. It's not worth it if you want to travel a lot. It's more than "admin" as this lady says, especially in the US where the TSA requires flight manifests to match the online count. Watch below or click here but I would seriously advise against using this strategy.
