THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A CEASEFIRE But it doesn't seem that Russia is interested. Ukraine agreed to a 30 day ceasefire yesterday and Russia responded by firing a crap ton of missiles in Ukraine. Now we're being told the Kremlin is "mulling" over the cease fire proposal, but it sure didn't look like it yesterday. Perhaps it was the last gasp before this thing stops for a while, perhaps it was Putin having a fit, who knows. If Russia doesn't want to play nice, what does Trump do? It will be interesting to see him exert pressure on Russia to get them to the table, whatever that looks like.
NOW DEMS ARE MICROMANAGING COP COMMUNICATIONS If you've been pulled over, get ready for the "do you know why I pulled you over?" question from the cop. For the record, I generally respond with "Don't you already know?" as the question is designed to get you to cop to whatever infraction they believe you committed (thanks, Dad for this advice). Now the Democrats in the Legislature are trying to outlaw the question. I'm being serious. This is what passes for time well spent under the Gold Dome.

COLORADO DEMOCRATS KILL TRANSPARENCY BILL So they can continue to scheme and conspire among themselves without letting the public know what was schemed or conspired about. Oh, they say they just want to " discuss, opine, talk strategy" but I'm going to assume they are acting in bad faith because there is no way for me to find out otherwise. They killed a bill that would force them to be open about it. We're hopefully going to have a chance to vote on this on the 2026 ballot if the Independence Institute follows through on its promise.

This seems sus as they kids say. Nothing inspires confidence in an agency that has been shown to wasted billions on left wing claptrap more than a shred and burn party in the lobby.
THE USELESS PRICE GOUGING BILL ADVANCES In all the years I've been talking about price gouging (a topic that comes up after EVERY hurricane in Florida) I've found ONE case of ONE guy being prosecuted by the Feds for price gouging. ONE. So why are we wasting so much time on something that will never be enforced? LET'S TALK SMALL MODULAR NUCLEAR REACTORS FOR A MINUTE This is a great column that makes the case for small modular reactors to replace the Comanche plant in Pueblo that is supposed to shut down in 2031. Maybe then we can avoid the green energy price spike that is most assuredly coming, as nations that have more wind and solar also have some of the highest electricity rates in the world. WHY DON'T WE SAVE THE SEARS BUILDING IN CHERRY CREEK? I'm being a bit cheeky here but isn't the old Sears building in Cherry Creek historic? I mean it was built in 1954 as part of the initial development of Cherry Creek, so where are the historic preservation types to save this building from destruction? Why are we trying to save an expensive old power station but not this gem? I find it interesting that when an old building is on incredibly valuable property it's not nearly as "historic" as others. Just saying.

CRUISE SHIP PRIVATE ISLANDS ARE GOING TO BE A PROBLEM One thing I hate about cruising (and I LOVE cruising) is how easy they make to avoid any actual interaction with the real people and places they visit. They bring crowds and pollution but often the locals get the shaft. This article is about the big push by cruise lines to create private islands and beach clubs for their passengers to enjoy at various ports. The Royal Caribbean company at least cuts deals so money flows back into the community but the natives are getting restless and can make it far more difficult for ships to dock there in the long run.

The Chinese import threat is why Canada has levied a 100 percent tariff on imported Chinese EVs, along with a 25 percent surtax on Chinese steel and Chinese aluminum. The European Union has slapped electric vehicles made in China with tariffs ranging from 7.8 percent to 35.3 percent, on top of the standard European tariff of 10 percent for imported automobiles. India imposes tariffs of 70 percent to 100 percent on imported electric vehicles from China and other countries.
