I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE REP. THOMAS MASSIE ON TODAY But then they scheduled the Buffs game at 1 so I'm hoping they can reschedule. I'm open about how much I love Thomas Massie. He is a principled guy in a job where principles are not appreciated or respected by many. Trump is now calling for him to be primaried because he refused to vote for ANOTHER Continuing Resolution so the Republicans can "work" on something better. He's been in Congress for 12 years. For twelve years he's been asked to vote on crap sandwich after crap sandwich while Republicans "work" on something better. He's not going to do it again, and this is entirely consistent with the message he's been delivering for the entire twelve years he's been in Congress. And here's the kicker...I think he would be perfectly fine NOT being in Congress anymore. He really doesn't care about the power, or the prestige, he cares about AMERICA. Rare in his field and certainly not appreciated as the Republicans are LITERALLY going to pass a bill with funding for USAID IN IT after we're all celebrating the death of the agency. Does this make sense to you?
I'm tired of the same Republicans who are rejoicing about DOGE running down Thomas Massie when he's the guy who is the most DOGE like in the entire Congress. It's honestly a gross oversimplification of the situation by people who still believe politicians who have lied over and over and over again when it comes to spending. I for one am tired of being lied to.
THE SUPREME COURT WILL HEAR BANS ON THERAPY FOR GENDER CONFUSED CHILDREN I want to start by saying that I think gay conversion "therapy" and helping kids through gender dysphoria are very different things. Gay conversion therapy has been widely disproven as an effective means to "cure" someone of their gayness. Some of the biggest leaders of the conversion therapy movement have admitted later that they were still gay and wrong. However, studies like this one from the Netherlands have shown that a vast majority of kids who experience gender dysphoria grow out of it. And unlike gay conversion therapy (some of which HAS been physically abusive) gender affirmation has lifetime irreversible impacts on a person's body. There is a HUGE difference and now The US Supreme Court will hear a challenge to laws that prevent therapists from trying to help a kid work through their gender confusion instead of affirming it, and the case if out of Colorado.
DEM LEGISLATORS WANT TO CENSOR SOCIAL MEDIA Because of course they do now that X is a truly free platform it must be stopped. A stupid, overreaching bill in working it's way through the Legislature would put new restrictions on social media designed to "protect" us from harm while probably having the reverse effect. I hope this dies but I'm sure it will pass.
AND THEY HATE GOVERNMENT TRANSPARENCY It's super sad that we are going to need a Constitutional Amendment in Colorado to force out legislators to be transparent but it seems we probably will. Read this for more.
ACT BLUE MAY BE LAUNDERING MONEY FOR DEMOCRATS And a bunch of people just resigned from the online fundraiser as an investigation has been launched. What is the issue? From this column:
This practice is known as “smurfing.” It is a type of identity theft whereby the names of small dollar donors are repeatedly used without their knowledge to mask large dollar political contributions that by law must be reported to the Federal Election Commission (FEC). The website, Election Watch, features a “Smurf Search” tool that allows users to search FEC data for implausibly large numbers of political contributions attributed to individual donors. An examination of the data, for example, indicates that a single Colorado resident allegedly made 57,138 contributions — one transaction every 1.3 days — totaling no less than $234,441.
And this is by no means an outlier. The FEC data shows a Florida resident whose individual contributions purportedly come to 52,591— an average of one transaction every 1.8 days — totaling $387,720. One California resident listed has supposedly made 52,501 separate contributions — an average of one transaction every 2.9 days — totaling $884,152. The list goes on and on. There are quite literally thousands of examples with similarly implausible contribution patterns. Thus, 19 states have opened investigations into ActBlue. The following is an excerpt of a letter the state attorneys general sent to its President and CEO, Regina Wallace-Jones.
James O'Keefe did a story on it here.
REPUBLICANS ARE GOING TO PUSH TOO HARD ON TRANS ADULTS I am 100% in favor of protecting kids from life altering gender affirming medical care before they are old enough to even understand what they are doing. HOWEVER, as a person who believes in freedom I am COMPLETELY opposed to telling ADULTS who are transgender what they can and can't do. I think most people feel the same way from the polling I've seen. But now we have overzealous Republicans in Texas who are trying to make being transgender a felony. We need to have some sort of framework for people who decided to transition as adults to be able to do so, as we have for YEARS, but mostly leave them alone. Period. Can we stop going beyond what is needed? These things do nothing but make the GOP pointless. By the way, that Texas bill only has one sponsor and has no chance of passing so that's good.
COLORADO LOVES BOUGIE DOG NAMES As Luna maintains the top spot when it comes to dog names here. Find the list here.
A NEW COUNTRY BAR COMES TO THE BALLPARK DISTRICT And I love a good country bar even if I never go out anymore. Find out more here.
AND A NEW CRACKER BARREL IS COMING TO TOWN And I will be celebrating with hash brown casserole because this one is closer to my house than the rest. It's going in the Central Park neighborhood.
MY LOVE AFFAIR WITH SOUTHWEST IS COMPLETELY OVER NOW Because they have caved to activist investors and decided to start charging for bags. Yes, I have the credit card so I can get one free bag, but it's the principle. I stayed loyal to them all these years and now they've crapped all over me. Good luck, Southwest, I'm shopping on pure convenience from now on and often, that ain't you.
KYLE CLARK INTERVIEWS DARCY SCHOENING As she's running for Chair of the Republican Party. It's a good interview. Darcy backtracks on her primary endorsements, and says voters just didn't have enough information about their chosen primary candidates. She also said Dave Williams hateful email telling people turn burn all PRIDE flags was "well-intentioned". He also pressed her on her own name calling of opponents and her focus on trans people. She handled the questions well, though I do think that if Republicans are looking for a change she may have disqualified herself in my view.
COVID PURCHASES WE STILL LOVE AND SOME WE REGRET This is kind of interesting but I assumed there would be more stuff that people regret.
HATE RUNNING? WATCH THIS. I hate running. There, I said it. But maybe I will try again after watching this.
WHAT DOES A GOOD DEAL FOR UKRAINE LOOK LIKE? Konstantin Kisin has been a VERY vocal supporter of Ukraine so he's not looking to give the land away.
