Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are set to square off in their first debate ahead of November's presidential election on Tuesday (September 10) night at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

The 90-minute debate will be hosted by ABC News and moderated by World News Tonight anchor David Muir and ABC News Live anchor Linsey Davis. There will not be an audience in the room during the debate.

The debate will skip the opening statements by the two candidates and get right to the questions.

Each candidate will have two minutes to answer questions and two minutes to offer rebuttals. They will also be given an extra minute to offer any follow-ups or clarifications. When candidates are not speaking, their microphones will be turned off.

Trump and Harris will be allowed to give a two-minute closing statement at the end of the night. Because Trump won a virtual coinflip on September 3, he will get to deliver his closing statement last.

While it is Harris' first time debating the former president, Trump previously debated President Joe Biden. The debate was a disaster for Biden, who appeared incoherent and provided rambling answers to many of the questions he was asked. His performance lead to numerous calls for him to drop out of the race. Eventually, Biden decided to end his reelection campaign and endorsed Harris for president, paving her way to secure the nomination.

The debate is a significant test for both candidates as they try to gain momentum heading into the final two months of the extremely close election. Polls show the race is neck and neck, both nationally and in several swing states.
