The Denver Broncos are calling on back-up quarterback Brett Rypien.
Rypien will get the start on Sunday against the New York Jets after the Broncos determined that Russell Wilson's hamstring injury will not allow him to play.
Wilson suffered the injury in the second half of Monday night's game against the Chargers and was able to finish the game.
This week, the Broncos gave Rypien many of the first team reps, in the event that Wilson's hamstring did not come around.
Now, Rypien will make his second career start, both coming against the Jets. On October 1, 2020, Rypien started for the Broncos on the road against the Jets and helped lead Denver to a 37-28 victory. He completed 19-of-31 passes for 242 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.
The Broncos have lost three straight games and are 2-4 this year. The Jets have won three games in a row and are 4-2.
