There are fast starts.
And then there is what the Denver Nuggets had on Wednesday night.
After a huge first quarter, the Nuggets held on and defeated the Indiana Pacers, 125-118.
Denver raced out to a 43-15 lead after one quarter and it looked like the game would be a blowout.
But the Pacers fought back and had a 38-26 advantage in the second quarter to cut the Nuggets lead to 69-53 at halftime.
By the end of the third quarter, the Pacers had tied the game at 91.
But Denver was able to take control. Trailing 102-100 with 7:40 to go, the Nuggets reeled off seven straight points.
Nuggets center Nikola Jokic had 37 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists. Bones Hyland had 20 points off the bench.
The win moved the Nuggets record to 46-31 and moved them into fifth place in the Western Conference, a half-game better than the Utah Jazz.
The Nuggets host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, April 1 at 7 p.m. MDT.
