Leading by two points after three quarters, the Denver Nuggets were right there with the best team in the NBA.
But the fourth quarter was the Nuggets undoing in a 140-130 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night at Ball Arena.
The Nuggets were ahead 106-104 through three quarters. But Phoenix outscored Denver 36-24 in the final quarter to get the win. The Suns have the best record in the NBA at 60-14. Phoenix has an amazing 30-6 record on the road.
Suns guard Devin Booker poured in a career-high 49 points. The Suns hit on 60.5% of their shots (52-86) and were 13-27 (48.1%) from three-point range.
The Nuggets offense was on point. They shot 59.3% from the field on 48-81. But they committed 17 turnovers that led to 30 points for the Suns.
Nuggets center Nikola Jokic had 28 points, pulled down six rebounds and had six assists. Bones Hyland had 23 points.
The Nuggets host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday, March 26 at 7 p.m. MDT.
