Even with captain Gabriel Landeskog out with a knee injury, the Colorado Avalanche were plenty good to shut out the Calgary Flames, 3-0, on Sunday night at Ball Arena.
Avs goalie Darcy Kuemper was terrific, making a career-high 46 saves and picking up his fourth shutout this year.
Nathan MacKinnon put the Avs up 1-0 at 9:55 of the first period. MacKinnon struck again four minutes into the third period and then Mikko Rantanen added Colorado's final goal with 1:38 to go.
The Avs avenged a 4-3 overtime loss to the Flames in Denver on March 3.
The Avs hit the road to take on the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, March 15 at 8:30 p.m. MDT.
Postgame comments from (in order) Avs goalie Darcy Kuemper, forward Mikko Rantanen and head coach Jared Bednar.
