This was not how the Colorado Buffaloes envisioned starting their final homestand of the regular season.
The Arizona St. Sun Devils ambushed the Buffs, 82-65, at the CU Events Center on Thursday night. In the process, CU's five-game winning streak came to an end.
In a tight first half, ASU was able to use an 8-0 run to take a 34-23 lead with 2:16 left and eventually led 37-26 at halftime.
ASU kept the pressure on in the second half, building the lead to 55-36 with 11:56 to go. CU could not put a rally together. They trailed by as many as 26 points, 72-46, with 6:53 remaining. Arizona St. put up 45 points in the second half.
Colorado shot only 38.9% from the field, including 7-27 (25.9%) from three-point range.
On the road, ASU shot well, making 30-61 (49.2%) from the floor and 9-17 (52.9%) on three-point attempts.
Evan Battey led CU with 13 points. Jabari Walker had 12 points and seven rebounds.
CU is now 18-10 overall, 10-8 in the Pac-12. ASU gets to 11-16, 7-10.
