It figured to be a close game and a good game.
It was both.
In the end, the Colorado State Rams had enough to hold off the Wyoming Cowboys, 61-55, Wednesday night at Moby Arena in the second Border War meeting between the two teams.
Wyoming won the first matchup, 84-78 in overtime, in Laramie on January 31.
In round two, CSU jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the opening 5-and-a-half minutes. The Rams lead went to double figures for the first time, 16-5, on David Roddy's three-pointer with 13:05 left in the first half.
But the Cowboys answered with a 16-5 run to tie the game at 21 with just under four minutes to go.
At halftime, the Rams held a slim 31-27 advantage.
The second half stayed pretty tight throughout. CSU built a 43-37 lead and was able to keep the advantage around four to six points for much of the half. Wyoming pulled to within 54-53 on Drake Jeffries' three-pointer with 3:52 to go but the Pokes never could get the game tied or take the lead down the stretch.
Roddy was CSU's top scorer with 26 points. He was 8-13 from the field, 4-7 from three-point range and pulled down 11 rebounds. Chandler Jacobs added 18 points.
Jeffries led Wyoming with 22 points and was 6-15 from long distance. Xavier DuSell added 11 points.
With the win, Colorado State moves to 22-4 overall, 12-4 in the Mountain West Conference. Wyoming is 22-5, 11-3.
The Rams next take on Utah State in Logan, Utah on Saturday, February 26 at 8:30 p.m. MST.
