Sometimes the matchup simply does not go your way.
Such was the case for the Colorado State Rams, who fell to the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, 72-51, Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada. The win completed UNLV's regular season sweep of CSU after the Runnin' Rebels won 88-74 in Fort Collins on January 28.
In the second meeting, the Rams had a hard time getting anything going.
CSU made only 9-of-27 field goal attempts in the first half and trailed 35-24 at the break.
Things didn't get much better in the second half.
The Runnin' Rebels outscored CSU 37-27 after intermission and the Rams shot only 34.6% (18-52) from the floor.
Isaiah Stevens led CSU with 14 points. David Roddy scored 11 points on 4-14 shooting.
CSU is now 21-4, 11-4 in the Mountain West Conference. UNLV is 16-11, 8-6.
CSU will be back at Moby Arena in Fort Collins for round two of the basketball Border War against Wyoming on Wednesday, February 23 at 7 p.m. MST.
