In a way, the Colorado Avalanche picked up two wins on Sunday in Dallas.
The Avs shut out the Dallas Stars, 4-0, and they welcomed forward Nathan MacKinnon back to action. He had missed the last four games and the All-Star game after suffered a facial fracture and a concussion.
MacKinnon logged 17:45 of ice time and helped the Avs get on the scoreboard with an assist on Gabriel Landeskog's first period goal. Landeskog wrapped up the scoring with an empty net at 18:10 of the third period.
In between, Nazem Kadri and Nicolas Aube-Kubel each put home a goal.
Avs goalie Darcy Kuemper continued his outstanding play, stopping all 23 shots he faced while recording his second shutout of the season.
The Avs now have recorded at least one point in a franchise-best 19 straight games.
The Avs and Stars meet again, this time at Ball Arena in Denver, on Tuesday, February 15 at 7 p.m. MST.
Postgame comments from (in order) forward Nathan MacKinnon, head coach Jared Bednar and forward Nazem Kadri.
