Monday night, the Denver Nuggets were in a giving mood.
And it cost them.
The Nuggets committed a season-high 26 turnovers in a 103-89 loss to the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Arena.
Dallas led by as many as 13 points in the first half and Denver trailed 46-37 at halftime. The Nuggets again fell behind by double figures in the third quarter but they rallied to close the gap to 76-72 with 8:22 left in the game.
But the Mavericks pulled away down the stretch and snapped the Nuggets three-game winning streak.
Nikola Jokic had 27 points and 16 rebounds for the Nuggets. Aaron Gordon had 15 points and seven boards.
The Nuggets lost despite outrebounding the Mavericks 47-28. Dallas was without forward Kristaps Porzingis, who entered health and safety protocols earlier in the day.
Next up for Denver is a home game against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, January 5. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. MST. The Nuggets will play eight of their next 10 games at home before going on a six-game road trip.
