CU head football coach Karl Dorrell has hired his new offensive coordinator.
Mike Sanford takes over.
Sanford was the offensive coordinator at the University of Minnesota the last two years. Previous coaching stops also include Utah State, Western Kentucky (head coach in 2017-2018), Notre Dame, Boise State, Stanford, Yale and UNLV.
Sanford has West Coast ties, which was an important factor important for Dorrell. Along with his coaching stops in the wester part of the country, Sanford recruited California and Texas during his time at Notre Dame.
He is from southern California.
The Buffs finished 4-8 this year and two days after the season, Dorrell decided a change at offensive coordinator was necessary and dismissed Darrin Chiaverini.
