The Colorado Avalanche won't score seven goals every game.
The Avs showed Sunday night they don't need to in a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers.
Andre Burakovsky's first career hat trick was enough scoring and the Avs held off a Panthers flurry in the final moments to pick up their fourth straight win.
Colorado had scored seven goals in each of its three previous games, wins over Philadelphia, the New York Rangers and Detroit.
Burakovsky's final goal broke a 2-2 tie at the 11:43 mark of the third period and came only a minute and 28 seconds after Brandon Montour had tied the game for the Panthers.
In the final moments, Florida had a power play and pulled its goalie but Avs goaltender Darcy Kuemper came up with some critical saves and defenseman Erik Johnson blocked a shot and also swept away the puck from the front of the net in the final seconds to secure the win in regulation.
Avs defenseman Jacob MacDonald took a hard check from Ryan Lomberg in the second period. MacDonald left the ice on a stretcher. The Avs said MacDonald was responsive.
The Avs host the New York Rangers on Tuesday, December 14 at 7 p.m. MST.
