The Colorado Avalanche will gladly take one point, even though the end result was a 6-5 overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
For much of the game, the Avs seemed destined to lose in regulation.
Ottawa built a 5-2 lead after a goal by Tim Stuetzle at 7:46 of the second period.
But the Avs got to work.
Alex Newhook scored less than two minutes later to bring the Avalanche within 5-3.
In the third period, Colorado got goals from Tyson Jost and Devin Toews to force overtime.
With starting goalie Darcy Kuemper out with an injury, Jonas Johansson started for the Avs. He allowed four goals on 16 shots before Justus Annunen replaced him. Aunnunen gave up two goals on 19 shots in his NHL debut.
The Avalanche continues its five-game road trip on Monday, December 6 in Philadelphia. Face-off against the Flyers will be at 4 p.m. MST.
