CU Opens Pac-12 Play With 80-76 Win Over Stanford

The Colorado Buffaloes started Pac-12 Conference play the right way.

The Buffs defeated the Stanford Cardinal, 80-76, Sunday at the CU Events Center.

Colorado started slowly, falling behind 7-0. It took the Buffs three minutes and 36 seconds to score.

But the did get the offense going. Trailing 21-10 with 11:38 to go in the first half, the Buffs went on a 12-0 run, capped by Evan Battey's three-pointer with 8:30 remaining.

By halftime, the Buffs were up 37-32.

Stanford opened the second half on a 9-2 run and led 41-39 a little over two minutes into the half.

This time the Buffs responded by outscoring the Cardinal 12-3 over the next 4:42 to go up 51-44.

It was a one possession game through the latter stages of the game. Keyshawn Barthelemy's two free throws with 12 seconds left were enough to seal the win.

Battey led the Buffs with 22 points on 8-11 from the field. He was one of five players in double figures for Colorado. Jabari Walker had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
