Colorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez came THAT CLOSE to making history.
Marquez came within three outs of becoming the first Rockies pitcher to throw a no-hitter at Coors Field. He settled for his second career one-hit shutout in an 8-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Pirates left fielder Ka'ai Tom led off the top of the ninth with a clean single to right-center field to break up the no-no.
Marquez helped himself with two doubles and an RBI. Six different Rockies had at least two hits. Five different Rockies hitters drove in at least one run.
Rockies shortstop Trevor Story collected his 700th career hit.
