The Denver Broncos have parted ways with cornerback A.J. Bouye.

The team released Bouye on Wednesday, nearly a year after acquiring him from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.

Bouye was scheduled to count nearly $11.7 million against the salary cap next season.

In December, he received a six-game suspension from the NFL for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. He will have to sit out the first two games of the 2021 season while serving the remainder of his suspension.

Bouye played in seven games in 2020, making 21 tackles. He missed four games with a shoulder injury early in the season and then missed another with a concussion later on in the year.
