For the second straight week, the Denver Broncos needed a huge comeback to get a win.
It didn't happen.
The Atlanta Falcons built a 34-13 lead and held on to defeat the Broncos 34-27 Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
The Broncos offense struggled in a big way in the first half and the result was a 20-3 deficit.
The Falcons pushed the lead to 27-6 on Julio Jones' 21-yard touchdown catch with 6:20 left in the third quarter.
They finally got things going.
Drew Lock threw touchdown passes to Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick around Todd Gurley's four-yard touchdown run.
Patrick's nine-yard scoring catch brought the Broncos within 34-20 with 3:53 left.
After forcing a punt, the Broncos made it a one-score game on Drew Lock's 10-yard touchdown run at the 1:52 mark of the fourth quarter. After getting the ball back on another punt, the Broncos fumbled the ball away on a fourth down play.
The Broncos could only muster 112 yards of total offense and five first downs in the first half.
The Broncos have another road game next Sunday, November 15. They will take on the Las Vegas Raiders.
