There is finally clarity on the contract status of Denver Broncos tackle Garret Bolles.
The Broncos have declined to pick up the fifth-year option on Bolles' deal. He will now become a free agent after the 2020 season.
The Broncos selected Bolles in the first round (20th overall) of the 2017 draft out of the University of Utah.
Bolles, 27, has been inconsistent through his first three seasons, committing 19 accepted holding penalties and nine false start infractions.
As recently as the NFL Draft last weekend, Broncos President of Football Operations/GM John Elway said Bolles will compete with Elijah Wilkinson to be the starting left tackle.
According to Spotrac, Bolles will earn a base salary of just under two million dollars in 2020. His fifth-year option projected to have a value just over $11 million.
