Northern Colorado Names Ed McCaffrey Head Football Coach

The Northern Colorado Bears got their man.

The Bears have hired former Valor Christian High School coach Ed McCaffrey as their new head coach.

McCaffrey referenced the move onsocial media on Thursday afternoon.

McCaffrey leaves Valor Christian after two years as head coach, during which his teams went 25-2 and won the 2018 Class 5A State Championship.

This year, Northern Colorado finished 2-10, 2-6 in the Big Sky conference. After the season, UNC fired head coach Earnest Collins, who was 28-72 in nine years on the job.

Northern Colorado gets a coach with strong in-state ties. Prior to coaching at Valor Christian, McCaffrey served as the KOA Broncos color analyst. He played with the Broncos for nine seasons, won two Super Bowls with the team and had 462 receptions while wearing the orange and blue.

Overall, McCaffrey played 13 NFL seasons with the New York Giants, the San Francisco 49ers and the Broncos.
