The pitching was there. The offense had a tough night.
In the end, the San Diego Padres defeated the Colorado Rockies on Franmil Reyes' walk-off home run off reliever Bryan Shaw in the 13th inning Thursday night at Petco Park.
Rockies starter German Marquez was terrific in his eight innings of work. He allowed two runs on two hits, walked only one and struck out a career-high 13 batters.
But the Rockies offense could not get much going. They had only three hits all game and only one through the first nine innings off Padres starter Eric Lauer and four relievers.
The Rockies will try to get game two of the series on Friday, Aug. 31. Coverage starts at 7:30 p.m. MDT on KOA NewsRadio 850 AM and 94.1 FM.
