They got one.
Sure, it's only preseason but the Denver Broncos took more steps forward in a 29-17 win over the Washington Redskins on Friday night at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
It was the Broncos first win this preseason. They are 1-2, as are the Redskins.
After Brandon McManus drilled a 50-yard field goal in the first quarter to open the scoring, the Broncos jumped up 10-0 on rookie Royce Freeman's 24-yard touchdown run with 39 seconds left in the opening period.
They increased the lead to 17-3 on Emmanuel Sanders' 27-yard scoring run with 4:37 to go before halftime.
McManus was 5-5 on field goal attempts, hitting from 50, 45, 34, 56 and 34 yards out.
The Broncos will close out the preseason on Thursday night at the Arizona Cardinals. Coverage starts at 5 p.m. MDT on KOA NewsRadio 850 AM and 94.1 FM.
