Jon Gray is back.

The Colorado Rockies right-hander returned to the starting rotation after two starts at Triple-A Albuquerque and shut down the Seattle Mariners over seven-and-a-third innings in Saturday night's 4-1 win Friday night at Coors Field.

Gray allowed only five hits and walked one while striking out six.

The Rockies gave him enough offense, thanks to a pair of two-run innings.

Carlos Gonzalez lined a two-run home run to center field in the third inning. Then in the fifth, Ian Desmond ripped an RBI triple and Nolan Arenado brought Desmond home with a single to make it 4-0.

The Mariners scored their only run in the eighth when they chased Gray. But Adam Ottavino and Wade Davis closed it out for the Rockies, who set a franchise record by winning their fifth consecutive series against teams above .500.
