CU Falls To Creighton, 84-74, In Women's NCAA Tournament

The Colorado Buffaloes battled. They fought.

But in the end, they came up short in an 84-74 loss to the Creighton Bluejays in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Buffs, seeded seventh in the Greensboro Regional, and the Bluejays, the 10 seed, were close in three of the four quarters.

Down 31-27 with 2:46 left before halftime, the Bluejays closed the quarter on a 9-0 run.

A 7-0 Creighton run in the third quarter broke a 41-41 tie and Creighton was in control again.

The Buffs got within 63-61 with on Quay Miller's two free throws with 6:46 to go. But Creighton responded with a 7-0 run and the lead was nine points with 4:05 remaining.

Guard Jaylyn Sherrod led CU with a career-high 27 points on 11-15 shooting. She added five rebounds and five assists. Forward Mya Hollingshed had 15 points and five rebounds.
