Former Major League Baseball pitcher Dan Serafini, who is on trial for the murder of his father-in-law, is also accused of having an affair with his family's nanny.

Serafini's alleged affair with Samantha Scott was revealed in court documents obtained by the Daily Mail. Scott is set to be among the witness to testify in the trial against Serafini, which began last week during jury selection.

Both Serafani, 51, and Scott, 35, were arrested together when she was accused of driving Serafini to his in-law's home on June 5, 2021, the night he allegedly shot his father-in-law, Gary Spohr, according to the documents.

Scott accepted a plea deal earlier this year, which included admitting to a "flirtatious, romantic relationship" with Serafini and allegedly told police that she spent the night before the murder getting drunk with the suspect at a casino hotel. Text exchanges between Serafini and Scott will be shared as evidence during the trial, the Daily Mail reported.

Prosecutors claim Serafini was motivated by a decades-old family feud that stemmed from money. The former pitcher is also accused of attempting to kill Spohr's wife, Wendy Wood, who survived, but later died by suicide.

Serafini's wife, Erin Spohr, who he shares two children with, is scheduled to testify in his defense. The former pitcher was on six different MLB teams during 1996 to 2007 and had a 15-16 record with a 6.04 ERA and 127 strikeouts.
